Real Madrid Edge Barcelona in 265th El Clasico to Cut La Liga Lead
Mourinho's men come from behind to win at Nou Camp. Mbappe lucky opener and late tap-in secures crucial 2-1 win over league leaders Barcelona.
Mbappe heroics lead Real Madrid past Barcelona in Thrilling El Clasico...
Kylian Mbappe scored twice to seal a 2-1 win for Real Madrid over Barcelona in the 265th El Clasico, denying Los Blancos' arch-rivals the chance to become the first club in La Liga history to win their first 10 games of a season.
Although league-leading Barcelona were the side chasing history, it was Madrid who carved out the first opening when Arda Guler pounced on a loose pass from Pedri and burst into the box, only to fire his effort over the crossbar.
The early chance would have lifted Jose Mourinho, back in the dugout for his first Clasico since March 2013, but the ever-animated Real Madrid boss was already in the referee's book after just 10 minutes, earning a warning from Juan Martinez Munuera for protesting a foul given against Aurelien Tchouameni.
Barcelona were dealt a blow on the half-hour when right-back Xavi Espart was forced off injured, with Alejandro Balde coming on in his place.
Looking to take advantage, Mbappe attempted an acrobatic volley that sailed over before Anthony Gordon saw his near-post drive pushed behind by Andriy Lunin, who was making his first start of the season after Thibaut Courtois was ruled out with flu.
Mbappe finally got his 10th league goal of the campaign four minutes before half-time, albeit in lucky fashion, as Gerard Martin's clearance ricocheted off the Madrid striker from six yards out and looped into the net.

The first half finished with a rush of opportunities, with Lamine Yamal and Yan Diomande both dragging shots wide from promising positions, and with the next goal set to be decisive, the Barca support cranked up the noise early in the second half.
They got their reward in the 61st minute when top scorer Raphinha picked up the ball inside the area and guided his 15th goal across all competitions this season into the far corner.
Madrid tried to respond instantly, as Joan Garcia kept out Guler's snap shot, but Barca had the momentum and Lunin produced a superb reflex save to deny Martin's header.
Yamal curled an effort just past the post and Frenkie de Jong saw a shot blocked late on, before Mbappe stole the win three minutes from time when Eduardo Camavinga beat Garcia to a through ball and squared for his France teammate to tap in.
The result secured Madrid's first win at the Nou Camp since October 2023 and only their second in the last eight Clasicos (L6) while stretching Mourinho's unbeaten streak against the Blaugrana as Madrid boss to six games (W4, D2).
