Barcelona survived a Real Betis scare to run out 5-2 winners in a chaotic LaLiga encounter, stretching their perfect start to nine matches.
Victory has become second nature for Barcelona this season, so it was no surprise to see them start on the front foot, and Lamine Yamal produced what may be the pick of their goals so far this term when he created space with some dazzling footwork before curling an inch-perfect effort into the top-right corner.
Barcelona did not have it all their own way, however, and were pegged back by Betis' first shot of the match. A recycled corner fell to Pablo Fornals, who delivered a pinpoint cross for Valentin Gomez to power home a leveller at the far post.
A stunning stop from Joan Garcia then denied Hector Bellerin from putting Betis ahead when he arrived late at the back post, and it proved to be a pivotal moment as just a minute later Ronald Araujo rose highest at the other end to head in Fermin Lopez's corner and restore Barcelona's lead.
Giovani Lo Celso thought he had levelled in sensational fashion when he volleyed a loose ball into the top corner, but VAR ruled out what would have been one of the goals of the season after deciding Cucho Hernandez had handled in the build-up.
Fermin came close to grabbing Barcelona's third within five minutes of the restart when his left-footed effort was superbly kept out by Alvaro Valles, and although he was picking the ball out of his net moments later when Ferran Torres volleyed home, the offside flag came to his rescue.
The reprieve did not last long, though, as Torres got his goal less than 30 seconds later when Yamal unselfishly squared for him to tap into an empty net.
Their two-goal advantage lasted just two minutes, as Abde Ezzalzouli halved the deficit, but the mass brawl that followed saw Facundo Bernal sent off for headbutting Yamal, leaving his side a man down for the final 35 minutes.
That loss of discipline proved costly for Betis, who saw the game slip beyond them in the 63rd minute when Eric Garcia pounced inside the area to stab home from Pau Cubarsi's knockdown.
With a comfortable lead, Hansi Flick was able to take off some of his big names with one eye on a midweek Champions League clash against PSG and next weekend's El Clasico, but it didn't stop Dani Olmo from adding a fifth in the final 10 minutes to cap a perfect evening that saw Barcelona equal a club record of scoring three or more goals in nine consecutive games.
