EPL: Arsenal Maintain Title Charge With Comfortable Everton Win
Ezri Konsa and Gabriel were on target as Arsenal eased past Everton 2-0 to draw level with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League and extend Everton's miserable away record against the Gunners.
Gunners beat Toffees to pile pressure on Man City...
Arsenal cruised to a 2-0 Premier League victory over Everton, leaving Toffees boss David Moyes still winless against reigning champions away from home in 20 attempts (D5, L15).
Everton had suffered a first defeat in all competitions this season when they went down 2-0 to Chelsea last time out (W4, D4), and the travelling supporters knew they faced another tough test when they fell behind in the seventh minute.
An Arsenal corner sparked panic in the area, and after Jordan Pickford and Vitalii Mykolenko both failed to clear their lines, Ezri Konsa tapped in his first goal for the Gunners from close range the first time Everton have conceded from a corner this season.
Back in the starting XI, Tyrique George cut inside and dragged an effort wide of the far post at the other end, moments before Gabriel was forced to clear off the line following a goalmouth scramble from a set-piece.
A flurry of Arsenal chances followed, with Noni Madueke firing narrowly wide on two occasions either side of a Mikel Merino header that missed the target.
But Everton could have gone in level at the break against the run of play had it not been for David Raya, who reacted smartly to deny a Thierno Barry flick after Ben White had misjudged a header back to his own keeper.
Gabriel looked set to be forced off after twisting his knee 10 minutes into the second half, but the Brazilian carried on and had even more reason to celebrate soon after, powering home his first goal of the season with a towering header from White's cross with 22 minutes left on the clock.
Everton had still failed to test the goalkeeper by that point, leaving their hopes of a comeback looking faint at best. And that proved to be the case, with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's late glancing header bouncing agonisingly wide of the post to confirm another defeat for the Toffees.
The result means Mikel Arteta's side have now taken victory in 12 of their last 13 Premier League matches - with just one defeat in that spell. They stay second for now, but are now level with Manchester City at the summit on 21 points.
A 2-0 win against Everton puts @Arsenal level on points with Man City at the top of the table 👊 https://t.co/vyPMpiyOHz

For the Merseysiders, it's an all-too-familiar story. They have now won just once in their last 31 Premier League trips to face Arsenal (D5, L25), and are winless in nine away league games dating back to last season (D5, L4).
