Bayern Munich kept their unbeaten run going, thrashing St. Pauli 5-0 at Millerntor-Stadion and breaking their own Bundesliga record for goals scored.

The win, which sandwiched Bayern's Champions League clash with Real Madrid, saw Vincent Kompany make seven changes to his lineup, with the team looking sharp.

They found their rhythm quickly, taking just nine minutes to score. Konrad Laimer's cross from the right was perfect for Jamal Musiala to head past Nikola Vasilj.

That goal tied Bayern's Bundesliga record. Michael Olise then wasted a chance to break it, hitting a wide shot from a good position.

Musiala couldn’t believe he didn’t double his and Bayern’s total in the 27th minute, when Joshua Kimmich and Raphael Guerreiro combined to provide Musiala another golden chance, only for his shot to hit the inside of the post and bounce along the goal line.

That miss would have proven costly had Kim Min-jae not made a remarkable block to deny Mathias Pereira Lage a certain goal soon after, with Manuel Neuer beaten, before the veteran shot-stopper was less troubled by Joel Chima Fujita’s header.

At the other end, tame efforts from Tom Bischof and Laimer came to nothing, as Die Roten’s lead remained 1-0 at the half-time whistle.

The opening chance of the second half went to the hosts after effective dribbling from Andreas Hountondji created a shooting opportunity for himself, but a deflection took the sting out of the shot and made it easier for Neuer.

Within minutes, the match was beyond Alexander Blessin’s side, who conceded Bayern’s 102nd of the season when a Kimmich free-kick was flicked by a Pauli head for Leon Goretzka to volley in his third of that tally.

Almost immediately from kick-off, Goretzka intercepted a pass which broke kindly for Olise, who strolled to the edge of the area and curled the ball low into the bottom corner.

As Nicolas Jackson ballooned wide and Luis Diaz had an effort well blocked either side of the hour-mark, it looked to be a case of “when” not “if” a fourth Bayern goal would arrive.

And they needed only a few more minutes, again winning the ball in Kiezkicker territory before Musiala played in Jackson to atone for his previous miss.

Bayern Munich eased off the gas in the final quarter, but still managed to score again through Raphael Guerreiro, who capitalized on a defensive mistake. This win marks Bayern's eighth consecutive head-to-head victory, while St. Pauli's winless streak extended to five matches, with Connor Metcalfe's long-range shot being their closest attempt at a consolation goal.
