The Chicago Cubs have dealt right-hander Jameson Taillon and cash to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Sunday trade sends Taillon to Toronto in exchange for either a player to be named later or cash considerations.

The 34-year-old was DFA’d by Chicago earlier this week. This season Taillon owns a 5.92 ERA across 15 starts, with 76 hits and 27 walks allowed in 76 innings. He’s also struck out 68 batters.

Taillon broke into the majors with Pittsburgh in 2016 and spent four seasons with the Pirates. He sat out all of 2020 after having his second Tommy John surgery.

The Yankees signed him next and kept him for two years. His best season came in pinstripes when he went 14-5 with a 3.91 ERA over 32 starts.

Taillon joined Chicago in 2023. It was a tough first year with the Cubs as he posted a 4.84 ERA in 29 starts, but he turned it around in 2024 and 2025 putting up a sub-3.70 ERA and 23 wins combined across those two seasons.
