AC Milan and Juventus circling Circati has reportedly pushed Parma’s asking price past AU$55m.

Transfer reports say Parma are now holding out for at least €34m around AU$57m - for the Socceroos centre-back, with multiple big clubs keeping tabs on him.

Back in July, the talk was that Circati would go for somewhere in the low AU$30m range if he left Parma. The 20-year-old is tied to the Serie A side until the end of the 2028/29 season.

His dad and agent, Gianfranco Circati, told Football360 in July that there was “realistic” interest in Alessandro from a “buzzing market.” He didn’t brush off links either, with PSG, Atletico Madrid and Newcastle United all named among the clubs keeping an eye on him.

Now the noise is even louder from Serie A’s heavyweights. With AC Milan and Juventus reportedly in the mix, Parma are digging their heels in and demanding top dollar.

Transfer insider Ekrem Konur says AC Milan and Juventus have emerged as the leading contenders for Circati. Because of that, Parma have hiked their valuation to a base of US$40m - €34m / AU$57m - a fee that would smash the Australian transfer record. The current mark is Harry Souttar’s €23m move to Leicester in January 2023, including add-ons.

According to Konur, both Milan and Juventus have studied detailed scouting reports and want Circati for his tactical flexibility, smart positioning, and comfort playing a high line while joining the build-up. Those traits fit exactly what new bosses Ruben Amorim and Luciano Spalletti are looking for as they reshape their defenses in their first pre-seasons.

Gianfranco Circati said back in July that his son is “very happy” at Parma, and that a move this pre-season is far from guaranteed. With interest building, he said the decision now rests with Parma.

According to Konur, Parma aren’t budging on their €34m asking price and aren’t under any pressure to sell.

If Circati does go for that fee, it wouldn’t just break Harry Souttar’s Australian record - it would also clear Lucas Herrington’s upcoming transfer to Hull City. Hull are set to pay a reported €20m with bonuses to Colorado Rapids, doubling their previous club-record.

I’m going against the grain here in saying I don’t believe Hull is a good option for Lucas Herrington. Sure, it’s the EPL but Hull will be fighting for survival.
He probably wouldn’t get much game time but he would have got more quality experience at say Barca or Bayern.
