C.J. Gardner-Johnson exited Bills practice on Saturday after suffering what looked like a foot injury and being carted to the locker room.
Teammates gathered around Gardner-Johnson while he was helped up before a cart arrived to take him off the field. It’s an eerily familiar scene, he dealt with a knee injury in Texans camp last year, though he avoided an ACL tear that was initially feared.
Gardner-Johnson joined Buffalo on a one-year, $6 million deal this offseason. He bounced around in 2025, playing three games with Houston before finishing the year with 10 games for Chicago.

This marks his fifth team in three seasons. He was with Philadelphia in 2024 during their Super Bowl run, when he matched a career best with six interceptions and added 59 tackles and 12 pass breakups.

He nearly set a career high in tackles last year with 66, and also logged career bests with six QB hits and three sacks - just two tackles off his personal record.
Buffalo opens the regular season on September 13 against Houston.
