Gyokeres celebrates Arsenal's derby demolition of Tottenham

Viktor Gyokeres hailed Arsenal's dominant North London derby victory over Tottenham as the “perfect response” to their recent critics, following the Gunners' slip-up in the Premier League title chase.

The Swedish striker, who netted twice in the 4-1 thrashing, emphasized how the team bounced back strongly after drawing at Wolves, proving their resilience and character on the pitch...

Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres described their 4-1 win over Tottenham as the “perfect response” to critics, following a stumble in the Premier League title race. Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze scored twice each, with Eze's goals including a 32nd-minute opener and a 61st-minute strike, while Gyokeres netted in the 47th and 90th minutes.

The victory extends Arsenal's lead at the top of the table to five points over Manchester City, who have a game in hand. Mikel Arteta's side had drawn 2-2 with Wolverhampton Wanderers just four days prior, sparking doubts about their title credentials.

Arsenal's dropped points at Molineux raised concerns about their mental resilience, but they bounced back with a 4-1 thrashing of Spurs, restoring their five-point lead at the top of the table over Manchester City.

The Gunners' dominant display against Spurs silenced critics, with Eberechi Eze scoring a brace and Viktor Gyokeres netting twice. This win showcases Arsenal's strength and character, putting the pressure back on City, who had closed the gap to two points with a 2-1 win over Newcastle.

Sweden striker Gyokeres, who has now scored 10 league goals this season, said: “It's always going to be difficult when you get a result like we had at Wolves, but it's how you handle that, and how you respond to it, and we showed that in a good way.

“To get this result and this performance, it was the perfect way to respond.”

He added: “There's a lot of games to go, but if we perform like this, it's going to be good.”

Arsenal will enjoy a midweek break, their first in over two months, after avoiding the Champions League play-offs. Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola plans to let his players unwind with “a few cocktails” during the week, ahead of their match against Leeds at Elland Road.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta jokingly shot down the idea, saying with a smile, “Cocktails? I don't drink cocktails. So, no, we will do our own thing.”

The contrasting approaches come as both teams prep for crucial Premier League fixtures - Arsenal faces Aston Villa next, while City takes on Leeds.
