Mjallby could face Ararat-Armenia or Celje in UCL play-offs if they beat Slovan Bratislava.

Mjallby face Slovan Bratislava in crucial UCL third qualifying round...

Allsvenskan title holders Mjallby are set to take on either Armenia’s Ararat-Armenia or Slovenia’s Celje in the UEFA Champions League play-off round, provided they get past Slovan Bratislava in the third qualifying round.

Mjallby welcome the Slovak champions for the first leg on 4th August, with the return fixture in Bratislava a week later. The victor will move within one tie of reaching the UCL League Phase, facing either Yerevan-based Ararat-Armenia or Slovenian champions Celje over two legs for a spot in the group stage.

The play-off round is scheduled for 18th and 19th August, with the return legs set for 25th and 26th August.

Mjallby saw off Gibraltar’s Lincoln Red Imps in the previous round to record their first ever European victory, a result that has already guaranteed them a place in a League Phase this season. If they are beaten by Slovan, they will fall into the UEFA Europa League play-off round instead.

Their potential UEL path looks tough, with a tie against the winners of Red Bull Salzburg and Pafos awaiting them. Both clubs have Champions League pedigree. Even if Mjallby lose at that stage, they would still drop into the UEFA Conference League Phase.

The UEFA Conference League third qualifying round kicks off on 6th August and features two Swedish teams. After their Europa League exit to Anderlecht, Hammarby have dropped into the UECL and will face Poland’s Rakow. Meanwhile, Goteborg, who beat Levadia in the last round, have been drawn against Belgian outfit Gent.

If Hammarby advance, they will go on to meet either Lithuania’s Zalgiris or Croatia’s Hajduk Split in the play-off round. For Goteborg, a win would set up a tie against either Scotland’s Hibernian or North Macedonia’s Shkenjija.
