The Atlanta Braves picked up right-hander Tyler Mahle from the San Francisco Giants on Sunday, sending reliever Anthony Molina the other way.

Mahle, 31, has made 18 starts for San Francisco this year, going 5.13 with 89 strikeouts across 94.2 innings. Batters are hitting .265 against the 10-year veteran, and his 1.39 WHIP marks his highest mark since 2018 when he posted a 1.59.

Molina, 24, has a 3.78 ERA in 17 appearances - nine of them starts - at Triple-A this season. He also had a short call-up to the majors, where he surrendered three runs on six hits over five innings before being optioned back down.

Mahle will be suiting up for his fifth different club in as many years. He pitched the last two seasons in Texas with the Rangers, after a year-and-a-half stint with the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota had originally landed him in a 2022 trade from the Cincinnati Reds.

The right-hander debuted with Cincinnati in 2017 and had his best year there in 2021. That season he posted a 3.75 ERA, set a personal best with 210 strikeouts, and led the majors with 32 starts.

Before joining the Giants this year, Mahle was excellent for the Rangers, logging a career-low 2.18 ERA across 16 starts.

Injuries slowed him down in 2023 and 2024. He underwent Tommy John surgery and made just eight starts total between Minnesota and Texas during those two seasons.
