Callum Wilson scored a 93rd-minute winner as West Ham United took a huge step toward Premier League survival with a 2-1 win over Everton at the London Stadium. The result extends their unbeaten home league run to six matches.
Deep in a relegation fight, three points felt vital for West Ham with Spurs facing already-relegated Wolves.
They started like a side that knew what was at stake, flying out of the gates. Inside 10 minutes, Crysencio Summerville delivered a perfect cross onto Tomas Soucek’s head, but the Czech headed just over.
The Hammers controlled most of the first half but rarely threatened the Everton goal, which would have concerned boss Nuno Espirito Santo.
A tame first half ended with Jarrod Bowen dragging a shot across the face of goal. His uncharacteristically poor effort summed up both sides’ struggles, especially West Ham, who failed to register a shot on target.
That changed within minutes of the restart when Taty Castellanos tested Jordan Pickford. West Ham felt they should have had a penalty for a foul in the aftermath.
Disappointment quickly turned to joy. From the resulting corner, Soucek rose highest in the box to head home Bowen’s delivery and put the Hammers ahead.
The goal didn’t spark Everton into life. For much of the game they looked like a side with little to play for, despite sitting close to the European places.
They eventually picked up, and after a big block from Soucek in a penalty box scramble, Axel Disasi made a huge clearance as West Ham clung to their narrow one-goal lead.
Thierno Barry nearly found an equalizer for the visitors, but his header was heroically cleared off the line by Soucek. The man of the moment’s goal looked set to secure all three points.

That held until the 88th minute, when Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was in the right place to volley home James Tarkowski’s knockdown and seemingly send West Ham into the drop zone.
An otherwise dull match had one more wild twist. In eight minutes of stoppage time, Wilson popped up to send the London Stadium into chaos with a late winner that kept West Ham two points clear of Tottenham in the relegation fight.
