NBA Recap: Oklahoma City Thunder Extend Western Lead with Madison Square Garden Win
Thunder edge Knicks 103-100 behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's clutch three

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's late three-pointer secures a 103-100 win for the Oklahoma City Thunder over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, extending their Western Conference lead.

“It's always great to come away with a win. No better place to do it than the Mecca...”

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's clutch three-pointer sealed a 103-100 win for the Oklahoma City Thunder over the New York Knicks. This victory marks Gilgeous-Alexander's 7-0 record at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks, and it's the Thunder's fourth straight win, extending their lead in the Western Conference.

The Knicks had a strong comeback, briefly taking the lead late in the game, but Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren led the Thunder's response. Holmgren scored 28 points, while Gilgeous-Alexander added 26 points and eight assists. The Thunder's win solidifies their position as a top contender in the Western Conference.

“We got the car back on the road in the fourth quarter, we were able to give ourselves a chance,” said Gilgeous-Alexander, who finished with 26 points plus eight assists.

“Late game, you've just got to figure it out. I made plays. Guys made plays. We still got here with a W.”

Oklahoma City led for most of the game, thanks to Chet Holmgren's 28 points, including 22 in a blazing first half. The Thunder's defense was on point, holding the Knicks to just 40 points in the first half, with Jalen Brunson struggling to get going.

But the Knicks turned it around in the third quarter, scoring 40 points and bringing the game to life. Jalen Brunson found his rhythm, hitting a three-pointer to level the scores and electrify the crowd. The game was on.

The Knicks took a narrow lead, but Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren led the Thunder's comeback. Gilgeous-Alexander's step-back jump shot put the Thunder up by seven with under a minute left. Jalen Brunson cut it to three, but his game-tying three-pointer with six seconds left just missed.

The Thunder held on for the 103-100 win, extending their Western Conference lead. Gilgeous-Alexander's clutch shot secured his 7-0 record at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.

Chet Holmgren was thrilled with the win, saying, “It's always great to come away with a win. No better place to do it than the Mecca.” The Thunder's 103-100 win over the Knicks puts them on 49-15, three-and-a-half games clear of the Spurs, with their sights set on the playoffs.

The defending champions are looking strong, and their focus is on securing a top spot in the Western Conference.

“And then we just got to keep doing what we're doing. We got to stay together. We got to be the team we've been the last year and a half.”

The Knicks stay third in the Eastern Conference, unaffected by the Boston Celtics' 118-89 loss to the Charlotte Hornets. Boston's loss keeps them ahead of the Knicks, but the gap isn't changing much.

The Hornets are on fire, with Kon Knueppel scoring 20 points and extending their winning streak. Charlotte's sixth straight win by 15+ points puts them in the history books, tied for the second-longest such streak in NBA history.
