Carlos Alcaraz is on fire, extending his winning streak to 15 matches with a stunning 6-1, 7-6(2) win over Casper Ruud, securing his spot in the Indian Wells quarterfinals for the fifth consecutive year. The world number one dominated the first set, showcasing incredible shots that left Ruud struggling.
Alcaraz's impressive performance wasn't limited to the first set; he maintained his intensity throughout the match, ultimately sealing the win in a thrilling tiebreaker. This victory marks his 15th consecutive win of the season, putting him in elite company in the Open Era.
Alcaraz will next face 2021 champion Cameron Norrie, looking to avenge his Paris Masters defeat last year.
The match was filled with thrilling moments, especially those stunning winners. A pair of unlikely lob winners had fans on the edge of their seats in the third game, and he sealed the deal with a high backhand volley winner that flew past Ruud.
“My first set, I think I was unplayable to be honest,” Alcaraz said. “I was really, really happy about playing at that level.”

Casper Ruud upped his game in the second set, but it wasn't enough to stop Alcaraz's momentum. The Spaniard's impressive backhand volley sealed a 5-1 lead in the tiebreaker, and he wrapped up the win with a fitting backhand winner.
Alcaraz credited the tough conditions, playing in chilly night weather, for making the match challenging. “The conditions were difficult, to be honest,” he said, having already battled through a tough three-set win over Arthur Rinderknech in the third round.
“(It was) really hot ... the ball was tough to control. It comes super-fast, it bounces super-high. But I think we played great, both of us.”
Carlos Alcaraz, just 22, is having an incredible season! He became the youngest man to complete a career Grand Slam at the Australian Open, followed up by winning the Qatar Open title. Now, with three wins in Indian Wells, he's started the season with a perfect 15-0 record.
This winning streak is a testament to Alcaraz's exceptional skill and consistency.
Carlos Alcaraz is set to face Cameron Norrie in the Indian Wells quarterfinals, with the winner securing a spot in the semifinals. Norrie, the 2021 Indian Wells champion, dominated Australian qualifier Rinki Hijikata 6-4, 6-2, showcasing his strong form. He broke Hijikata's serve in the first game and maintained control throughout the match.
Norrie's impressive performance extends to his unbeaten streak in the tournament, having won his previous matches against Mackenzie McDonald and Alex de Minaur. His experience and skill make him a tough opponent for Alcaraz.
Cameron Norrie dominated Rinky Hijikata 6-4, 6-2, showcasing his strong form at Indian Wells. He saved the only break point he faced in the match and broke Hijikata's serve twice in the second set, securing a stress-free win.
In a thrilling match, defending champion Jack Draper stunned five-time champion Novak Djokovic 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5), advancing to the quarterfinals. This win marks Draper's first Indian Wells quarterfinal since his title run in 2016. He'll face Daniil Medvedev next.
Novak Djokovic is back in action at Indian Wells, but it's not been easy. The Serbian superstar has had to dig deep to overcome two tough three-set matches, making it to the fourth round for the first time in nine years.
Djokovic's next opponent is Jack Draper, who's on a mission to continue his comeback trail. The Briton won the Indian Wells title last year, catapulting him to a career-high ranking of fourth in the world. Draper's victory over Djokovic would be a huge boost to his confidence, especially after missing six months with an arm injury.
Cameron Norrie's road to the quarterfinals hasn't been easy - he missed six months with an arm injury and dropped to 14th in the rankings, but he's back strong. Now, he'll face Carlos Alcaraz for a semifinal spot.
