Nottingham Forest has appointed Vitor Pereira as their new head coach on an 18-month deal, following the sacking of Sean Dyche after just 114 days in charge. Pereira, the former Wolves boss, becomes Forest's fourth coach this season, taking over a team that's three points above the relegation zone with 12 games left to play.

Pereira's appointment comes after a successful stint at Wolves, where he helped the team avoid relegation last season. However, he was sacked in November after a poor start to this campaign. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has reportedly been impressed with Pereira's previous work, having worked together at Olympiacos in 2015.

Vitor Pereira was brought in by Wolves in December 2024 and managed to keep them in the Premier League last season, but was sacked in November due to a poor start to this campaign. He's now joining Nottingham Forest, who are three points above the relegation zone with 12 games left to play, after a 0-0 draw at home to Wolves.

Pereira has a previous connection with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, having worked under him at Olympiacos in 2015, where he won the league and cup double. This existing relationship is reportedly a significant factor in his appointment.

Sean Dyche was sacked by Nottingham Forest after winning just six of his 18 league games, taking over from Ange Postecoglou who had a winless streak of eight matches in 39 days. Postecoglou himself replaced Nuno Espirito Santo, who was let go after three league games due to disagreements with owner Evangelos Marinakis over transfer decisions.

Postecoglou's short stint was marked by controversy, with him later criticizing Tottenham's transfer policy, saying they're “not a big club” and unwilling to take risks. This came after his own struggles at Forest and Tottenham, highlighting the challenges of managing in the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest, already out of the FA Cup, has a break before heading to Turkey for their Europa League knockout play-off against Fenerbahce next Thursday. They're then back at the City Ground to host Liverpool in a Premier League match.

The Reds are currently sixth in the league, so it'll be a tough game for Forest. With Vitor Pereira's appointment as the new manager, the team might be looking for some momentum after a turbulent period.
