Hammarby move to second as AIK and Kalmar also pick up Allsvenskan wins...
Hammarby's win over Elfsborg lifted the Stockholm club back to second in the Allsvenskan standings. Meanwhile, Goteborg stayed in the relegation zone after losing to AIK, and Kalmar picked up three points with a victory over Orgryte.
Hammarby End Winless Run and Jump to Second with Elfsborg Victory
Sirius and Mjallby's 4-4 draw after the summer break gave Elfsborg a chance to close within eight points. Instead, they remain nine behind as Hammarby leapfrogged Hacken on goal difference.
The win ended a three-match losing streak and gave Hammarby a first victory under new boss Henrik Rydstrom, who took over from Kalle Karlsson in the summer. Familiar face Paulos Abraham was on target again, heading in a Victor Lind cross to put the visitors ahead in the 50th minute.
Just under 25 minutes later, Abraham went for a second but was denied by Isak Pettersson. The rebound fell to Montader Madjed, who finished into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Elfsborg pulled one back in the 77th minute as Ari Sigurpalsson volleyed in a Julius Magnusson cross. However, the hosts couldn't find a late equaliser and suffered only their second defeat of the season.
AIK Pile More Misery on Goteborg to Move Five Points Clear
The break halted Goteborg’s momentum after three games unbeaten. They’re back to losing ways against AIK, who eased some pressure by going five points clear of Goteborg in the relegation play-off spot.
Goteborg looked on course to escape the bottom three when Sebastian Clemmensen curled them ahead just before the half-hour. But the advantage lasted only four minutes as Taha Ayari held off defenders and played in Johan Hove for the equaliser.
With 14 minutes to go, Ayari struck again with another through ball. Axel Kouame stayed calm to finish between the goalkeeper’s legs and seal all three points for AIK.
Kalmar Cruise Past Orgryte to Move Clear of Trouble
Kalmar moved three points clear of the relegation zone with a fourth straight home win, comfortably beating bottom-placed Orgryte who still have just one win all season.
Charles Sagoe Jr set up Carl Gustafsson inside three minutes, with Gustafsson sweeping home to give Kalmar an early lead. Less than two minutes into the second half, Arsenal loanee Sagoe turned provider again, laying it off for Abdussalam Magashy to finish from the center of the box.
