Gavi: 'I'm Happy with My Recovery and Season So Far'
Barcelona's Gavi responds to critics who question his quality on the ball, saying 'they don't have a clue' about his abilities.
Barcelona midfielder Gavi has downplayed the team's impressive unbeaten run, emphasizing that they are not invincible despite their 22-game unbeaten streak across all competitions. With a quarter-final clash against Borussia Dortmund looming, Gavi stressed the importance of humility and staying grounded. “We're having a spectacular season, but we don't feel invincible,” he said. “It's football, you can't always win.”

Gavi's comments reflect the team's focus on taking things one game at a time, rather than getting ahead of themselves. “We have to play with humility in every game and remember where we came from,” he added. “That's the important thing, to keep our feet on the floor and go game by game.” With several titles still within reach, including a potential quadruple, Gavi emphasized the need to stay focused and take each match as it comes.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has been rotating his attacking midfield options, switching between Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and the injured Dani Olmo. This flexibility will be crucial as the team navigates its busy schedule and competing demands. With the Champions League quarter-final against Dortmund on the horizon, Gavi's humble approach and the team's adaptability will be key factors in determining their success.
Spain international Gavi, 20, responded to critics who question his quality on the ball, expressing his frustration with those who doubt his abilities. “It's true that people say that I don't know how to play football, but they don't have a clue,” Gavi said. “That's the truth, I can understand it, it's football, everyone can think what they want and that's fine.”

Gavi, who returned from a severe knee injury in October after missing almost a year, has been pleased with his recovery and current season. Although he hasn't been a key player for coach Hansi Flick, Gavi is content with his progress. “It's true that I'm not having such an important role as in other seasons, but that's normal after I came back from a long injury,” he added. “I am very happy with the recovery I've had, and if you told me I would have this season when I got back from injury I would have taken that.”
Flick said his team needed to work hard to progress against Dortmund.
“I've always said that we're allowed to dream, but here we need to keep two feet on the ground,” said the coach.
“It's important that we know that what we have achieved (so far) has been through a lot of hard work and a lot of preparation.
“We don't want this to be the end, we'll see if tomorrow we'll be able to give our all like we have in these last matches.
“We haven't lost a game yet this year -- we want to keep it that way.”
