Buoyed by confidence, the hosts made the perfect start and went ahead inside 10 minutes.

Alex Scott swung in a corner that Evanilson met with a glancing header. The ball was deflected over his own line by ex-Cherries midfielder Jefferson Lerma, handing Bournemouth an early lead.

Andoni Iraola’s side could have made it two shortly after when Daichi Kamada’s mistake fell to Evanilson, but the striker blasted over from a position he should have scored from.

Bournemouth kept the pressure on and missed another clear chance inside 20 minutes, as Rayan headed wide from a good spot in the box.

Dean Henderson was forced into a quick save to deny Marcus Tavernier, and around the 30th minute the Palace keeper was penalized for fouling Marcos Senesi, giving Bournemouth a penalty.

Eli Junior Kroupi converted the penalty with composure, sending Dean Henderson the wrong way to make it 2-0. The goal was his 12th of the Premier League season, matching the record for most by a teenager in their debut campaign.

In the first 15 minutes of the second half, Rayan headed narrowly over from close range, and only a crucial block by substitute Tyrick Mitchell stopped Kroupi from adding a second.

Bournemouth put the result beyond doubt in the 77th minute. David Brooks threaded a perfect pass to Rayan, who made up for earlier misses with a composed finish into the bottom corner to make it 3-0, sparking celebrations around the Vitality Stadium.

The win extended the Cherries’ unbeaten league run to 15 games and lifted them to sixth in the table. Fulham away is next on the schedule.

Palace slipped to 15th and will now turn their focus to the UEFA Conference League semi-final second leg against Shakhtar Donetsk at home.
