EPL: Arsenal Send Title Message With Rout of Fulham
| Saka and Gyokeres combine as Arsenal thrash Fulham |
David Raya made his first save in the 73rd minute vs Timothy Castagne. Fulham stay 10th after just their second loss in six Premier League matches.
Arteta rests stars as Arsenal cruise past Fulham ahead of UCL semi. Saka set up Gyokeres for the opener, then scored himself in the 40th minute...
Bukayo Saka starred as Arsenal eased past Fulham 3-0, extending their lead over Manchester City to six points and boosting their goal difference in a tight title race. The win also stretched the Gunners’ unbeaten home run against Fulham to 33 matches.
Arsenal started brightly and were ahead by the ninth minute. Saka weaved past Raúl Jiménez, delivered a low cross, and Viktor Gyökeres finished from close range.
Captaining the side, Saka stayed lively down the right while Leandro Trossard dragged an early chance wide after probing the Fulham defence.
Arsenal kept up the pressure, forcing Bernd Leno into action to meet Gabriel Magalhães’ header before scrambling to keep out Gyökeres. Saka blazed the rebound over from close range.
The Emirates thought they had a second when Riccardo Calafiori headed in, but celebrations turned to groans as the goal was ruled out for offside.
Arsenal didn’t have to wait long to double their lead. This time Saka and Gyökeres swapped roles, with Saka latching onto Gyokeres’ pass and drilling it past Leno at the near post in the 40th minute.
Arsenal added a third right before half-time when Gyokeres stretched to head in Leandro Trossard’s flick, lifting it over former Gunners keeper Bernd Leno.
Saka was replaced by Noni Madueke at the break. Fulham threatened early in the second half through Raúl Jiménez’s long-range effort and a Timothy Castagne header that deflected wide.
Arsenal kept pushing forward, but Leno stood tall to deny Gyökeres a hat-trick. The striker came off soon after alongside Declan Rice, with Mikel Arteta resting key players ahead of the Champions League semi-final second leg against Atlético Madrid and the final Premier League run-in.
David Raya wasn’t tested until the 73rd minute, when Timothy Castagne forced him into his first save of the afternoon.
Former Arsenal man Emile Smith Rowe left to an ovation from the home crowd after picking up an injury attempting a shot.

Riccardo Calafiori thought he’d scored again, but Leno tipped his header onto the bar. It mattered little as Arsenal sealed a 3-0 win, their second league victory in a row. The result silenced doubts about their attack and put them top of the table ahead of Manchester City’s game against Everton on Monday.
Fulham have now lost just twice in six Premier League matches, with the other defeat coming against Liverpool. Marco Silva’s side sit 10th but remain in the hunt for European qualification.
A big month awaits, with @ManCity playing twice, and could be leading the league, before @Arsenal play next 😲
