Clara Tauson looked set for her first win since 6 March after taking a 5-3 lead in the second set against Daria Snigur in the French Open first round. The Danish player could not close it out, and the 24-year-old Ukrainian fought back to win 3-6, 7-5, 6-1. Tauson’s ongoing back issues appeared to affect her during the comeback.

Tauson came close but fell short in Paris, exiting the French Open in the first round with a 6-3, 5-7, 2-6 loss to Daria Snigur.

In the second set, Tauson was two points from reaching the second round. Snigur responded, took the set 7-5, and forced a deciding third set. The Ukrainian controlled the final set and pulled away.

Tauson’s back problems seemed to flare up again late in the set. At 1-4 down in the third, she told her coaching team “I can’t move” in frustration. The Dane went on to lose the set 2-6.

Tauson holds the world No. 21 ranking, while Daria Snigur is ranked No. 95.
