Wolverhampton Wanderers finished the Premier League season without an away win after a 1-1 draw with Burnley at Turf Moor. The result summed up a difficult campaign for both sides, who had already been relegated. Wolves ended with a record of 6 draws and 13 losses on the road.

Burnley wanted to finish strongly at home but fell behind early. A VAR review showed Florentino Luis had handled the ball in the box, leading to a penalty against the hosts.

Even after the delay, Adam Armstrong stayed calm and fired the penalty past Max Weiß to put Burnley ahead.

Burnley controlled possession for much of the half but created little in attack. Wolves looked dangerous on the break and repeatedly caught the hosts out with quick transitions.

Mateus Mane almost made it 2-0 with a curling shot toward the far corner. Weiß got a fingertip to it and pushed the ball onto the post to keep the deficit at one.

Weiß was tested again 10 minutes before half-time when Hugo Bueno seemed certain to score from close range. The German goalkeeper rushed off his line and made another excellent block to keep Wolves ahead.

Burnley had most of the ball but did not force Jose Sa into a save until stoppage time. Sa made a straightforward diving stop to deny Florentino Luis.

Burnley lacked a cutting edge in the first half, but came out firing after the break. Zian Flemming picked up the ball on the edge of the area and struck a clean side-footed finish past Sa’s dive to level the score.

Burnley looked more likely to grab a late winner. Hannibal Mejbri made a strong driving run and set up a chance that Sa had to claw off the line at the second attempt. In the end, neither side could find a winner. With relegation already confirmed for both, pride was the only thing at stake. The draw left Burnley in 19th and extended their home winless run to 15 games.

The result also confirmed Wolves would finish bottom of the table. They ended the season with only three league wins.
