Without Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, the Lakers took a 3-0 series lead with a 112-108 OT win in Houston. LeBron had 29, 13 rebounds, and a game-tying three...

Led by LeBron James’s 29 points, the Los Angeles Lakers outlasted the Houston Rockets 112-108 in an overtime thriller Friday to take a commanding 3-0 lead in their NBA playoff series.

James, the 41-year-old star in his 19th postseason, forced a steal and drilled a game-tying three with 13.6 seconds left in regulation.

His buzzer-beater attempt for the win missed, but he added a steal and a block in a chaotic overtime as the Lakers pushed the Rockets to the brink of elimination in the best-of-seven Western Conference series.

No NBA team has ever rallied from an 0-3 deficit to win a playoff series.

“Just trying to seize the opportunity,” James told broadcaster Prime after posting 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. “My guys trust me to try to make plays, and I'm blessed to be able to do it.”

The Lakers can close out the series in Houston on Sunday. Few expected them to be in this position with league-leading scorer Luka Doncic out due to a hamstring strain and key offensive piece Austin Reaves sidelined with an oblique injury.

The young Rockets, missing veteran star Kevin Durant to a sprained ankle, were led by Alperen Sengun’s 33 points and 16 rebounds.

Houston battled back from an early 15-point hole and held a six-point lead with under 30 seconds left in regulation.

Mistakes cost them late. A Houston turnover was followed by a foul on Marcus Smart on a three-point attempt.

Smart hit all three free throws to trim the Lakers’ deficit to 101-98, setting up James’s game-tying shot.

Sengun missed a go-ahead look before James misfired from deep at the buzzer, sending it to overtime. Smart scored eight of his 21 points in the extra period as the Lakers pulled away.
