Allsvenskan Round-Up: Hammarby Hit Eight, Sirius Stay Perfect, Mjallby Off the Mark
Hammarby smash eight past Orgryte as Vasic nets hat-trick

Hammarby thrash Orgryte 8-1 with Vasic hat-trick, Sirius go two points clear after beating Vasteras 4-1, champions Mjallby claim first win over BP, and Halmstad draw with Goteborg as both pick up first point of 2026.

Hammarby respond to Sirius defeat with record 8-1 Allsvenskan win over Orgryte. Vasic hat-trick, Lind stars, and Besara shines in biggest league victory since 2008...

A clinical Hammarby put eight past Orgryte in a 8-1 rout, ending the newly promoted side’s unbeaten return to Allsvenskan. Elsewhere, champions Mjallby finally got going with a 3-0 victory over Brommapojkarna, while Sirius maintained their perfect start.

Hammarby tear Orgryte apart in ruthless eight-goal display

After easing past Mjallby on the opening weekend, the 2026 title favourites were brought back down to earth by Sirius last time out. Orgryte, meanwhile, had started life back in the top flight brightly, drawing with Malmo and beating Mjallby.

But coming up against a Hammarby side determined to make a statement quickly turned that dream start into a nightmare. The rout began after 11 minutes when Markus Karlsson teed up Noah Persson, who lashed a 25-yard strike into the top corner.

Persson set up the second seven minutes later, delivering a corner that Nahir Besara volleyed in at the back post. Paulos Abraham added a third midway through the half, tapping home after Victor Lind had caused chaos in the box.

Orgryte thought they’d pulled one back 10 minutes later when Christoffer Styffe nodded in a rebound from a free-kick. But their deficit was three again within a minute, as Lind capped the move himself this time, drilling a fierce right-foot strike across the keeper for his first goal for the club.

Bajen were made to wait 12 minutes after the restart for their fifth, but it was worth it. Besara picked out Montader Madjed, who cut inside from the right and curled a stunning effort beyond Hampus Gustafsson.

The final 20 minutes were all about Nikola Vasic. Ten minutes after coming on, he raced onto a pinpoint Frank Adjei through ball and prodded home. Gustafsson’s afternoon then went from bad to worse when he was robbed by Lind, who squared for Vasic to tap in.

Five minutes from time, Lind’s low cross from the left let Vasic complete his hat-trick from close range, sealing Hammarby’s biggest Allsvenskan win since 2008. Yet even at this early stage, it’s still not enough to lift Bajen into the top three.

Sirius stay perfect as first-half blitz sinks Vasteras

Sitting top with nine points from three games are impressive Sirius, who wrapped up the points with a dominant first-half performance at home to fellow promoted side Vasteras.

The opener came after just eight minutes. Oscar Krusnell was brought down in the box by Simon Gefvert following a sharp one-two with Robbie Ure, and Isak Bjerkebo calmly dispatched the penalty.

Bjerkebo doubled his tally from the spot just after the half-hour mark. Frederic Nsabiyumva was penalised for blocking a Matthias Nartey effort with his hand, and with a carbon copy of his first penalty, Bjerkebo again sent Elis Jager the wrong way.

Vasteras nearly hit back when they struck the post, but the game was effectively over in first-half stoppage time. A deep cross sparked chaos in the box before Tobias Anker forced the ball over the line to make it three.

The visitors gave themselves a flicker of hope eight minutes into the second half when Nsabiyumva made up for his earlier handball, heading home Marcus Baggesen’s corner. But the game was put to bed nine minutes later, as Krusnell’s knockdown from a free-kick was turned in by Henrik Castegren.

Blasvart are now guaranteed to end the round two points clear at the top, while Vasteras, like Orgryte, stay on four points after seeing their unbeaten return to Allsvenskan ended emphatically.

Champions Mjallby finally up and running with BP rout

After a dismal start to their title defence, Mjallby earned a first league win under Karl Marius Aksum, also doing the damage in the first half to dispatch Brommapojkarna.

The nerves at Strandvallen eased after five minutes when Ludwig Thorell found space in the box and curled a finish into the bottom corner. If that gave MAIF a sense of their old selves, they underlined it in the 28th minute as Elliot Stroud’s low cross was turned in by Jacob Bergstrom.

The win was effectively secured five minutes later when Jesper Gustavsson picked out Abdoulie Manneh on the edge of the box, and he rifled a strike in off the post. It was enough to lift the champions off the bottom of the table, leapfrogging BP whose run of back-to-back draws came to an end.

Halmstad and Goteborg off the mark after quickfire exchange

Finally on Saturday, Halmstad and Goteborg both picked up their first points of the new season in a 1-1 draw.

Just past the hour, Ludvig Arvidsson’s through ball released Omar Faraj, who guided a finish in at the near post to put Halmstad ahead. But Goteborg’s response was instant. Two minutes later, Tobias Heintz tapped in at the back post after Saidou Alioum headed a cross back across goal.

That was the Gothenburg side’s first goal of the campaign, but it couldn’t stop their worst start to a season since 2023, when they only just avoided the drop. Halmstad sit 13th, ahead of the Angels on goal difference.
