Tom Pidcock made a late sprint to snatch victory at Milano-Torino, edging out Tobias Halland Johannessen and Primoz Roglic in a thrilling finish.

The win comes just three days before Milan-San Remo, a historic race that's one of the oldest in the world. Pidcock's win shows he's in top form heading into the big event.

The lineup was stacked with top contenders like Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe), though he struggled with tendonitis, Tom Pidcock (Pinarello Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team), Tobias Halland Johannessen (Uno-X Mobility), and a surprise late entry: Primoz Roglic (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe). The stage was set for a thrilling showdown.

A breakaway of six riders set the pace early on, featuring Alessandro Milesi (Biesse - Carrera - Premac), Patrick Konrad (Lidl - Trek), Andrea Pietrobon (Team Polti VisitMalta) and three Frenchmen: Valentin Ferron (Cofidis), Mathieu Burgaudeau (TotalEnergies) and Adrien Maire (Unibet Rose Rockets). However, the peloton kept the breakaway firmly under control, with Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe setting the pace.

Pidcock's Winning Surge

The escapees were caught as riders hit the first Bivio di Superga climb (4.3km at 9%). Roglic and Pidcock were among the strongest at the front. Then, 12km from the finish, Adrien Boichis (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) launched an unexpected attack, shaking up the group.

Boichis' lead was short-lived, and he was caught as the pace intensified. Natnael Tesfatsion (Movistar Team) set a blistering tempo, thinning the field to around 20 riders.

The waiting game began, and then Cian Uijtdebroeks (Movistar Team) took the initiative, making his move.

Pidcock dropped everyone, cracking Johannessen in the end, and rode solo to victory. As a favorite, he lived up to expectations, crossing the line ahead of Johannessen and Roglic.

Pidcock's win shows he's in top form in Italy, just three days before Milan-San Remo, the first monument of the season.
