Six-time champion Novak Djokovic won't defend his Miami Open final appearance due to injury...

Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Miami Open due to a right shoulder injury, ending his hopes of defending his runner-up finish from last year. This marks another setback in a season already plagued by physical issues, and he's likely to drop in the rankings, potentially falling to fourth place behind Alexander Zverev.

Djokovic's struggles this season have been evident, with a strong start at the Australian Open - where he defeated Jannik Sinner and led by a set in the final against Carlos Alcaraz - followed by inconsistent performances. His recent exit at Indian Wells, losing to Jack Draper in the round of 16, was a sign of his struggles.

Novak Djokovic's season has taken a hit as he's withdrawn from the Miami Open due to a right shoulder injury. He was eliminated in the round of 16 at Indian Wells by defending champion Jack Draper, and this injury will keep him out of the Miami Masters, where he was runner-up last year.

Djokovic will lose 650 ranking points, causing him to drop to at least fourth place behind Alexander Zverev. He's expected to return to the courts in early April, on clay in Monte Carlo, missing the 'Sunshine Swing' and potentially impacting his preparation for the French Open.

Novak Djokovic and Andre Agassi share the record for most Miami Open titles with six wins each, and they've also played in the most finals with eight appearances. Djokovic's last trip to the final was last year, but he fell short against Jakub Mensik.

The men's tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, March 18th, with the draw taking place on Monday at 18:00 CET. Djokovic is looking to make it seven Miami titles, which would put him ahead of Agassi's record.
