EPL: Arokodare's Late Equaliser Denies Brentford Win
| Wolves survive Brentford scare, grab point |
Brentford squander 2-0 lead as Wolves' Tolu Arokodare scores late equaliser in Premier League thriller.
Arokodare's header denies Brentford, Wolves stay in fight...
Brentford's hopes of qualifying for Europe next season took a hit as they blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at home against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Wolves, on the other hand, extended their unbeaten Premier League run to three matches.
Brentford started strong, with Mikkel Damsgaard firing over the bar from a great position after Dango Ouattara's smart pass. But despite missing chances, they took the lead through Bryan Mbeumo's 26th-minute strike. Yoane Wissa doubled their advantage 10 minutes later. However, Wolves fought back, and Arokodare's late equaliser secured a point for the visitors.
Brentford's wait for a breakthrough was short-lived. Keane Lewis-Potter's excellent cross from the left was met by Michael Kayode's bullet header inside the box, and his effort flew past Jose Sa to notch his first-ever Premier League goal.
Kayode's stunning strike marked a big moment for the young defender, and it gave Brentford the momentum they needed.
Brentford almost doubled their lead shortly after, but Igor Thiago surprisingly steered his header wide from close range. The chances kept coming for the hosts, but Wolves' goalkeeper Jose Sa was keeping them in the game.

The striker's earlier miss was quickly forgotten as Brentford piled on the pressure. Just 10 minutes into the second half, Caoimhin Kelleher's long kick was superbly controlled by Dango Ouattara, who passed the ball across the face of the goal to allow Thiago to tuck the ball home comfortably for Brentford's second of the night.
Brentford were looking comfortable at that point, but Wolves' defence managed to regroup, avoiding a third goal by the skin of their teeth as Thiago's close-range header hit the woodwork.
Despite dominating the first 45 minutes, Brentford allowed Wolves to grab a lifeline from out of nowhere on the stroke of half-time. Adam Armstrong's impressive finish from the edge of the box halved the deficit, setting up an intriguing second half.
Brentford had a huge scare just after the restart. An Armstrong shot came back off the post following a perfectly-weighted pass from Jackson Tchatchoua, putting the home supporters on edge.
The Bees struggled to regain control after half-time, and Wolves' growing belief was palpable. They were starting to take the game to Brentford.
Wolves' equaliser came as little surprise, given their growing momentum. Substitute Tolu Arokodare made an immediate impact, heading Joao Gomes' delivery past Kelleher from close range to level the game after 77 minutes.
Arokodare was agonisingly close to winning it for Wolves moments later, with a header that crashed off the bar. The drama was far from over, and the points were shared in a thrilling encounter.
The final minutes were intense, with both teams pushing hard for a winner. Brentford almost got the late drama they didn't want, as Reiss Nelson headed wide with the goal at his mercy.
It's a disappointing point at home for the Bees, stuck seventh in the Premier League table, six points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
Wolves are 12 points from safety with time running out to avoid relegation to the Championship. Their focus is on securing crucial points in the remaining games to pull off a great escape.
