Mathias “Zanka” Jorgensen returns to FC Copenhagen on a short-term contract until the end of the season to help the crisis-hit team.

Mathias “Zanka” Jorgensen is back at FC Copenhagen for the third time in his career, signing a short-term contract until the end of the season to help the team out of their current crisis. The 35-year-old former Danish national team player brings a wealth of experience and a strong personality to the team, with the goal of helping FC Copenhagen qualify for European football next season.

Jorgensen, a center-back, has played over 300 games for FC Copenhagen since his debut in 2007 and has in-depth knowledge of the team and the Danish Superliga. Head coach Jacob Neestrup is pleased to have Zanka on board, citing his solidity and calmness as valuable assets during a difficult time. Jorgensen is looking forward to training with the team and helping them lift their performance.

“We currently lack a player in central defense - both specifically for the two upcoming games and for the rest of the season, so we are best equipped to ensure that FC Copenhagen qualifies for European football for the coming season,” says head coach Jacob Neestrup.

FC Copenhagen's injury woes continue, with Junnosuke Suzuki still unfit and Pantelis Hatzidiakos suspended for the crucial match against Randers. The team desperately needs a win to stay in contention for the Championship playoffs, and the absence of key players is a major concern.

With Munashe Garananga on loan, Gabriel Pereira is available to fill the gap in central defense, alongside the returning Mathias 'Zanka' Jorgensen.

Mathias “Zanka” Jorgensen, 35, is a true FCK legend, having played a whopping 303 matches for FC Copenhagen since debuting way back in 2007.  He's brought in for his experience and leadership to help the team turn things around.

“I have joined the club with respect for the current situation, and I have a strong belief that together we can lift the team,” says the defender.

"I have seen from a distance the quality and potential in the squad and will do everything to bring it back into play. It will be a great honor to help the club that has given me so much out of the current situation.”

Zanka was last playing for LA Galaxy in the MLS, but his contract was mutually terminated in early February. He's been club-free since then, until now - FC Copenhagen brought him in to help with their crisis.
