Bayer Leverkusen cruised through to the Champions League last 16 with a comfortable 2-0 aggregate win over Olympiacos, holding a goalless draw in the second leg at the BayArena. The German side's solid defensive display nullified Olympiacos' attacks, extending their unbeaten record against Greek teams to five games (W3, D2).
Leverkusen had the best chance of the game early on, with Patrik Schick's glancing header just wide of the post. The Czech striker had opened the scoring in the first leg with a quickfire brace, but was again th frustrated in Leverkusen.
Olympiacos pushed for a goal in the first half, but Leverkusen's defense held strong. Despite enjoying periods of possession, the Greek side couldn't trouble Leverkusen goalkeeper Janis Blaswich, leaving Leverkusen coach Jose Luis Mendilibar with a comfortable lead heading into halftime.

Olympiacos pushed for a way back into the tie, and it was Martins who came closest, hitting the post with a low strike. The Portuguese winger had earlier forced a good save from Blaswich, but Leverkusen's defense held firm.
Leverkusen's Grimaldo also got in on the action, hitting the woodwork at the opposite end.

Olympiacos' chances of a comeback faded as the game wore on, and Lorenzo Scipioni's long-range shot wide in the closing stages sealed their fate. Leverkusen held firm, happy with the lack of goalmouth action, and claimed their fifth clean sheet in Europe, setting up a last-16 tie against Bayern Munich or Arsenal.
