Hearts manager Derek McInnes is optimistic about his team's title chances with several key players set to return from injury soon. He likens it to an “April transfer window” that could give his side a much-needed boost in their push for the Scottish Premiership title.

Hearts are currently top of the table, four points ahead of Rangers and six points ahead of champions Celtic, who have a game in hand. It's a impressive position considering they've been without several first-choice players, including captain Lawrence Shankland and midfielder Cammy Devlin.

The return of these players could be a game-changer for Hearts, providing a welcome injection of talent and experience. With the title within their grasp, McInnes will be hoping his team can hit top gear and secure their first Scottish title in over 60 years.

“It's easy to feel sorry for yourself,” said McInnes. “It's easy to think 'why us?, 'why me?' and 'why are we getting these key players out?', but I think it's unrealistic to think you can get through a full campaign.

“It's a league for a reason, you have to get through all these different tests and challenges, and there's no doubt we're getting challenged at the minute at such an important time.”

He added: “It will almost feel like a transfer window opening up for us in April when we get a few back, so you take the good with the bad as you go through it.”

Hearts were last crowned Scottish champions in 1960, and they're now on a mission to break the Old Firm's grip on the title. If they succeed, they'll be the first club outside of Celtic and Rangers to win the Scottish title since Alex Ferguson's Aberdeen in 1985.

The pressure's on, but Hearts are in a great position to make history. They're top of the table and have a real chance to end the drought.

"I know that we're capable of winning games and I know that with 10 games to go there's still a lot that can happen and we've just really got to concentrate on ourselves, whatever people say,” McInnes said.
