Fulham beat Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light, ending their own three-game losing streak in the Premier League. Sunderland, who had just lost their unbeaten home record against Liverpool, suffered back-to-back defeats at home.
The first half was lackluster, with just one shot on target between the two teams. Sunderland's form hadn't helped, and confidence was low going into the match.
Noah Sadiki had a speculative strike saved by Bernd Leno five minutes from halftime. It was one of the few attempts Sunderland had, and they were also hit with injuries to Nordi Mukiele and Jocelin Ta Bi.
Kevin had to come off due to injury, having had Fulham's best chance before halftime, dragging his shot wide from an acute angle. In the second half, Sunderland's substitute Romaine Mundle missed a great opportunity to put his team ahead, curling wide from close range.
It proved costly for Sunderland, as Raúl Jimenez scored a quickfire double either side of the hour mark. The Mexican striker broke his duck in style, ending a goal drought.
Jiménez had previously scored eight goals, all of which were either headers or penalties. He got one of each this time, heading home his first from an Alex Iwobi corner.
A first brace since January 2025 was beckoning for Jiménez, and he delivered, scoring again seven minutes later. This time, he sent Robin Roefs the wrong way with a penalty, after Calvin Bassey was fouled by Brian Brobbey in the box.
The stunned Black Cats tried their best to get back into the game. Nilson Angulo had a chance, blazing over at close range, before Daniel Ballard was brought down by Ryan Sessegnon for the second penalty of the afternoon.
Enzo Le Fée made no mistake with the penalty, lashing the ball beyond Leno's reach. Sunderland's hopes of a comeback were fading.

Fulham sealed the win with a deadly counterattack, breaking the game open after losing their clean sheet. Harry Wilson fed Iwobi, who delicately chipped the ball over the onrushing Roefs, making it 3-1.
Sunderland had no answer to Fulham's attack, and the result sees the Cottagers leapfrog them in the table. The win is a big boost for Fulham.
Despite conceding late, Fulham will be delighted with their first away league win in five games (D1, L3). They've picked up valuable points on the road, and it could prove crucial in the season's final stretch.
