Eileen Gu of China has made history by retaining her women's halfpipe title at the Winter Games, earning her sixth Olympic medal and cementing her position as the most decorated freeskier in Olympic history. Gu's impressive performance saw her score 94.75, just 0.75 points better than her second run, leaving competitors in awe.
Gu's teammate Li Fanghui took silver with a score of 93.00, while Britain's Zoe Atkin claimed bronze with a score of 92.50. Atkin's medal marks a significant achievement for Team GB, equalling their all-time record at a Winter Olympics.
Eileen Gu turned her disappointing opening round into a stunning comeback, nailing her second and third runs to top the standings with a score of 94.75. This impressive performance earned her a gold medal, adding to her collection of silver medals in big air and slopestyle from Livigno.
The 22-year-old skier, who previously won two golds and a silver at the Beijing Olympics, has now moved ahead of Canada's Mikael Kingsbury to become the most decorated freeskier in Olympic history. World champion Zoe Atkin, representing Britain, put down her best run of the day but managed a score of 92.50, securing bronze. Atkin, born in the US but representing her mother's country, had a notable performance.
The final was originally scheduled for Saturday but was postponed due to heavy snowfall in the Italian Alpine resort.
