Aussie teen Daniel Bennie scored his first Championship goal in his 19th appearance for QPR, giving them the decisive lead in a 3-1 win away to Hull City. The 19-year-old's stunning strike from long range, just four minutes after being subbed on, sealed the win.
Bennie's goal, deep in the second half, was followed by Richard Kone's stoppage-time goal, putting the game to bed for QPR. This crucial win keeps QPR within touching distance of the top-six.
Hull, Ipswich Town, and Millwall all suffered setbacks, with Ipswich losing 5-3 to Wrexham and Millwall falling 3-1 to Portsmouth. Meanwhile, QPR ended the weekend just four points behind sixth-placed Wrexham, who are making a historic push for a third consecutive promotion and their first-ever Premier League appearance.
Daniel Bennie, the Australian winger, joined QPR from Perth Glory, where he made 25 appearances during the 2023/24 season and contributed directly to four goals, including a strike at AAMI Park against Melbourne Victory. Bennie's impressive form earned him a move to QPR, where he's now making his mark in the Championship.
Describing his first Championship goal, Bennie said it was “the best feeling in the world.” The young winger's enthusiasm is infectious, and it's clear he's loving life at QPR.
“I’m just buzzing, it’s been a long time coming,” Bennie added.
“It just dropped to me on the edge of the box and I was just like, f--k it, why not hit it? And it just went (into the) top corner.”

Bennie was part of the Young Socceroos squad that won the Under-20 Asian Cup in early 2025, defeating Saudi Arabia on penalties in the final in Shenzhen, China. This achievement showcases his talent and experience on the international stage, making his QPR debut and goal even more impressive.
