Crystal Palace ended their losing streak, beating struggling Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor, marking their fourth win in six visits. This extends Burnley's losing run to five games, putting them under pressure to turn things around.
Burnley struggled to cope with Palace's intensity, and Jean-Philippe Mateta's goal proved the difference. The win gives Palace a boost, while Burnley's struggles continue, with relegation concerns looming.
They started strong at Turf Moor, but conceded the first big chance, as Jean-Philippe Mateta outmuscled Hjalmar Ekdal and forced a great save from Martin Dúbravka. Burnley responded quickly, testing Dean Henderson with Jaidon Anthony's curling shot, which the Palace goalkeeper managed to deflect to safety.
Scott Parker’s men felt a little hard done by 10 minutes before half time when Anthony went down under a challenge from Chris Richards inside the area, but no issue was found by either the referee or VAR.
It was one that probably stung that little bit more when Palace nosed in front on the stroke of the interval. Marc Guéhi’s ball into the back post was teasing, and as Daniel Muñoz got the wrong side of his marker, he was afforded the simplest task to head back across goal and into the far corner.
Introducing Jacob Bruun Larsen at the break went to show just how unhappy Parker was with his side, but a like-for-like change didn’t appear to be what Burnley needed to get back into the game.

The Clarets were lucky to even reach the hour mark and still be in the game after Mateta broke clear on goal and was only denied by a stunning Dúbravka save.
Burnley had brief moments of hope, like Jacob Bruun Larsen's shot that hit the post, but they lacked creativity in attack. The hosts struggled to create chances, highlighting concerns about Vincent Kompany's tactics and his future at the club.
Crystal Palace's win wasn't a huge surprise, given their strong record against newly-promoted teams. They've lost just one of their last 18 games against such opposition in the Premier League, and this latest victory shows they're a force to be reckoned with.
This impressive run suggests Palace are indeed challenging for a European spot, with their solid performance against tougher opponents showcasing their strength and resilience.
