Barcelona has taken the lead in the LaLiga title fight with a thrilling 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid, ending their 13-game unbeaten league run. The match was intense from the start, with both teams creating chances within the first five minutes. Raphinha had an early opportunity, but his shot sailed over the bar, while Atletico's Alex Baena was a constant threat as they tried to assert their authority.
Atletico Madrid took the lead through Alex Baena in the 19th minute, but Barcelona quickly equalized with a goal from Raphinha. The Brazilian winger received a perfect pass from Pedri and scored with a close-range strike. Barcelona continued to dominate, and Dani Olmo scored the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute, although he suffered a shoulder injury in the process. Ferran Torres sealed the win with a late goal, making it 3-1.
The win gives Barcelona a five-point lead at the top of the table, with 37 points from their games. Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, remains in fourth place with 31 points. Barcelona's next game is against Real Betis, while Atletico Madrid will face Athletic Bilbao.
Atleti were looking sharp, with their passing causing Barcelona problems early on. Baena's brilliant run and finish gave them the lead just before the midway point of the first half.
Barcelona responded predictably, pouring on the pressure, but Atleti's five-man backline held firm initially. That was until Raphinha found space and rounded Jan Oblak for a well-crafted equalizer, seven minutes after Atleti's opener.
As the all-out assault from the hosts continued, Dani Olmo was fouled in the area by Pablo Barrios, but Robert Lewandowski’s awful penalty flew into the Camp Nou stands.
Oblak then produced a world-class save from the Polish international’s bullet header to keep the scores level.

Barcelona came out strong in the second half, pressing high and hunting down Atleti. Julian Alvarez had the first chance, but his chip was easily gathered by Joan Garcia. Raphinha and Giuliano Simeone both had good opportunities, but their shots flew wide. Lewandowski was inches away from converting Raphinha's low cross, but it wasn't to be.
The game was turning frenetic, with Alex Baena pulled off with a hamstring injury. Shortly after, Dani Olmo slid home a left-footed finish, but suffered an injury in the process, making way for Ferran Torres. Barcelona dominated possession and created chances, but Atletico's Thiago Almada somehow missed an open goal, one of the best chances of the match.
The final stages of the match resembled a pinball machine, with Torres finding the net in the last minute of stoppage time to end Atleti’s resistance.
The result means that Barcelona have only lost one of the last 10 H2Hs (W8, D1), and although that defeat came in last season’s corresponding fixture, that’s the only defeat they’ve suffered in 20 LaLiga home H2Hs (W14, D5).
