Matteo Guendouzi and Tijjani Noslin's goals were enough to secure a win for Lazio, but it was a game where they created plenty of chances. They had a goal disallowed and hit the woodwork, showing they were on top.

Lazio's injury crisis continues to bite, with Maurizio Sarri missing key players like Taty Castellanos, Samuel Gigot, Matteo Cancellieri, and Nicolò Rovella. The good news is that Nuno Tavares and Elseid Hysaj are back, available on the bench. Lecce, on the other hand, were missing Balthazar Pierret and Gaby Jean for this match.

Players from both teams showed their support for the anti-violence against women campaign by wearing special shirts with the names of important women in their lives.

The new eagle mascot, Flaminia, made its debut, but the atmosphere was marred by a fan protest over a banner dispute.

Riccardo Sottil thought he'd scored an early goal, but the referee ruled it out, awarding a free kick for his hand on Gustav Isaksen's face. The ball had deflected into the net, but the goal didn't stand.

Lazio dominated possession, but struggled to create clear chances. Wladimiro Falcone was equal to Matteo Guendouzi's weak finish, and the Lecce goalkeeper made a tough reaction save to deny Boulaye Dia.

The breakthrough finally came when Toma Basic pulled the ball back from the left, and Guendouzi's awkward volley looped into the net, wrong-footing Falcone and giving Lazio the lead.

Boulaye Dia had a couple of attempts blocked by Kialonda Gaspar, while Matteo Guendouzi's curled effort from the edge flew just wide. Wladimiro Falcone made a crucial save, rushing off his line to push a Mattia Zaccagni pass away from Toma Basic's feet.

Lazio made a change at half time, with Danilo Cataldi going off due to a calf issue, replaced by Matias Vecino in midfield.

Boulaye Dia thought he'd scored on 51 minutes, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR review deemed him offside following a shove on Tiago Gabriel.

Wladimiro Falcone was the hero for Lecce, making a crucial double save to deny Adam Marusic and Gustav Isaksen. Toma Basic's follow-up effort flew over the bar, and Lecce dodged a bullet.

Gustav Isaksen had a great chance, but his angled drive from six yards went across the face of goal. Lecce started to gain confidence, with Tete Morente and Tiago Gabriel having attempts on goal, but Ivan Provedel was equal to the task.

Lazio had a heartbreaking moment on 72 minutes, hitting the same upright twice in 10 seconds. First, Matteo Guendouzi's shot from the edge of the area hit the post, then Mattia Zaccagni slipped on the follow-up and hit it again.

Mario Gila went off with a muscular issue, replaced by Patric, who returned to action after several months out injured.

Lazio sealed the win deep in stoppage time, as Tijjani Noslin scored his first goal in over a year. He latched onto a long Ivan Provedel goal kick, held off Tiago Gabriel, and forced a big save from Wladimiro Falcone, nodding in the rebound.
