After the match, Carlos Alcaraz praised his opponent, saying, “I think we both have huge respect for each other, we entertained the people well.” He added, ”He's a really powerful player -- he can make any shot... I appreciate the moment that I've shared with him today.”

Four-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz narrowly won the first set in a intense tie-break, where both players had opportunities to seal the win. The set remained tightly contested, with only one break point opportunity that went unconverted.
Alcaraz eventually gained the upper hand, breaking Shelton's serve in the second set to take a 2-0 lead. The big-serving American struggled to find a way back after that crucial break.
However, Alcaraz couldn't maintain his momentum, and Shelton seized the opportunity to break serve twice in the third set, taking advantage of Alcaraz's lapses to win the set.
