MotoGP Spanish GP: Marquez Wins Sprint, Quartararo Crashes Out
Marc Marquez maintains perfect sprint record with victory at Spanish GP, extending lead over brother Alex and teammate Francesco Bagnaia.
Marc Marquez extended his perfect sprint record this season, winning the Spanish Grand Prix sprint race. Yamaha's Fabio Quartararo crashed out early, handing Marquez a comfortable victory. Marquez's brother Alex finished second, while teammate Francesco Bagnaia took third place.
“Today was not easy, especially with this warm temperature, it changed the feeling a lot... I struggled a bit in the end, but I was controlling,” Marquez said. With five consecutive sprint wins, Marquez now leads the MotoGP standings by 20 points over Alex and 31 points over Bagnaia.
Marquez expressed his happiness, saying, “It's amazing. I always say the same on Saturday... I'm super happy, but I just want to control my emotions because tomorrow is the most important day (the race). But in front of this crowd, you have this extra power.”

Fabio Quartararo initially denied Marc Marquez a fifth consecutive pole, stunning everyone with a strong qualifying lap. However, Marquez quickly took the lead at the start, only for Quartararo to reclaim the top spot with a bold overtake on turn one. Marquez then used Quartararo's slipstream to his advantage, passing him on the next lap at turn six.
Quartararo's promising Saturday ended abruptly when he lost control and crashed, promoting Alex Marquez to second and Francesco Bagnaia to third. Meanwhile, Marquez dominated the sprint race, pulling away from his brother and teammate to extend his lead.
Marc Marquez crossed the finish line first, securing the sprint victory. Franco Morbidelli finished fourth, while Fermin Aldeguer took fifth place. Fabio Di Giannantonio completed the top six, giving Ducati a clean sweep.
The Jerez circuit holds significance for Marquez, who suffered a severe crash there in 2020 that nearly ended his MotoGP career.
