Bundesliga: Borussia Dortmund Secure First Away League Win Under Niko Kovac

Borussia Dortmund secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over St. Pauli, with Serhou Guirassy and Karim Adeyemi getting on the scoresheet.

Borussia Dortmund's attacking prowess shone through in the second half as they secured a convincing 2-0 victory over St. Pauli at the Millerntor-Stadion. This win marked Dortmund's first back-to-back Bundesliga victories of the season, highlighting their resurgence in form.

Pascal Gross, fresh from providing four assists in Dortmund's 6-0 thrashing of Union Berlin last week, nearly picked up where he left off with a sublime pass using the outside of his right foot. The ball found Karim Adeyemi's head, but unfortunately, the young forward was unable to generate sufficient power to trouble the St. Pauli goalkeeper, resulting in the game's first shot on target.

From St. Pauli's perspective, finding the opening goal was crucial, given their dismal record of losing all 14 league games in which they have conceded first this season. The home side's supporters were momentarily excited when a whipped free-kick found the unmarked Hauke Wahl at the back post. However, their enthusiasm was short-lived as Wahl steered the ball harmlessly wide of Gregor Kobel's goal, squandering a promising opportunity for St. Pauli.

The hosts' fortunes took a turn for the worse just five minutes into the second half, as Borussia Dortmund seized the initiative with the opening goal. Serhou Guirassy, who had scored four goals the previous weekend, showcased his predatory instincts once again, tapping the ball home from close range after Karim Adeyemi had drilled a low ball into the box.

Adeyemi then took center stage with a mesmerizing individual effort, doubling Dortmund's advantage just before the hour mark. The young forward outmuscled Philipp Treu to latch onto a long ball forward, before cleverly wrong-footing Eric Smith to cut inside and slot a precise right-footed shot past Nikola Vasilj.

Guirassy thought he had added a third goal to Dortmund's tally, only to see his effort chalked off for offside. However, this minor setback did little to dampen Dortmund's spirits as they cruised to their first away league win under Niko Kovac. The victory propelled the 10th-placed visitors to within six points of the top four, while St. Pauli remained mired in 15th place, having suffered a fourth consecutive defeat without scoring.
