Bundesliga: Bayern Munich Suffer Shock 3-2 Defeat to Bochum
Bayern Munich's 11-game home unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga came to an end as they suffered a shocking 3-2 defeat to Bochum.
Bayern Munich's impressive 11-game winning streak at home in the Bundesliga came to a shocking end as VfL Bochum staged a stunning comeback to win 3-2 at the Allianz Arena. The hosts, who had made 10 changes to the starting lineup that thrashed Leverkusen 3-0 in the UEFA Champions League, were left reeling as Bochum fought back from a two-goal deficit.
Initially, Bayern Munich struggled to find their rhythm, looking disjointed in the early stages of the game. However, they still managed to break the deadlock after 14 minutes, thanks to a moment of brilliance from Raphaël Guerreiro. The goal was scored after Serge Gnabry went down following a promising run on the left flank. While everyone waited for the referee's decision, Guerreiro seized the opportunity, firing an unstoppable drive that crashed in off the underside of the bar.
Serge Gnabry had the opportunity to double Bayern Munich's lead just minutes after Raphaël Guerreiro's opening goal, when Jakov Medić committed a foul on Leroy Sané in the box. However, Gnabry's resultant penalty kick struck the base of the post, denying Bayern the chance to extend their advantage.
Bayern Munich did eventually double their lead, though, just before the half-hour mark. Guerreiro scored his second goal of the day, heading home from close range after intelligent play from Thomas Müller. At this point, Bochum's prospects looked bleak, trailing 2-0 and having not scored an away goal against Bayern since 2010. However, the visitors responded immediately, with Medić firing a loose ball high into the net following a corner.
The complexion of the game changed significantly after Bochum's goal, and Bayern Munich's concerns about a potential comeback intensified just before halftime. João Palhinha was shown a straight red card for catching Georgios Masouras with his studs, leaving Bayern a man down. This development galvanized Bochum, who emerged from the halftime break with renewed determination.
The visitors quickly found an equalizer through Ibrahima Sissoko, who planted a perfect header into the far corner from Felix Passlack's cross. After restoring parity, Bochum adopted a more cautious approach, and Bayern Munich nearly capitalized on this shift in momentum. Guerreiro had a glorious opportunity to regain the lead, but he poked the ball wide after running through on goal.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Bayern Munich struggled to create meaningful scoring opportunities, prompting a quadruple substitution on the hour mark. Initially, the changes seemed to pay off, as the hosts regained control of the game and re-established their dominance.

However, just as it seemed Bayern were regaining their footing, they were caught off guard by a swift counterattack. With twenty minutes remaining, Matúš Bero burst through the middle of the pitch and calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, completing Bochum's remarkable comeback.
The stunning turnaround earned Bochum a crucial three points, lifting them out of the bottom two and into the relegation playoff spot. Meanwhile, Bayern Munich's lead at the top of the table remains eight points, thanks in part to Bayer Leverkusen's surprise defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen.
