Pakistan's Noman Ali Makes History with Test Hat-Trick
Noman Ali became the first Pakistani spinner to take a test hat-trick as Pakistan dominated the West Indies on day one of the second test.
The opening day of the second test between Pakistan and West Indies in Multan was marked by a flurry of wickets, with Pakistan's Noman Ali claiming a hat-trick. West Indies were bowled out for 163 in the first session, and Pakistan's batting lineup struggled to cope with the West Indies bowlers, eventually being dismissed for 154 shortly before the close of play.
West Indies bowlers Gudakesh Motie and Kemar Roach made a strong impact early on, picking up two wickets apiece to put Pakistan on the back foot. However, a 68-run partnership between Mohammad Rizwan (49) and Saud Shakeel (32) for the fifth wicket helped Pakistan stage a fightback. Despite this resurgence, Pakistan's batting lineup continued to struggle, with spinner Jomel Warrican claiming four wickets to leave Pakistan reeling.
Warrican's impressive bowling display included the dismissals of Shakeel, caught by a diving Roach in the deep, and Rizwan, who was outsmarted by Warrican's flight and turn to be stumped just short of his half-century. Noman Ali's struggles continued as he edged to short leg for a duck, leaving Pakistan in a precarious position at 130-7. The tail-enders failed to provide any significant resistance, with Salman Ali Agha (9) falling to Motie, Abrar Ahmed (2) being bowled by Warrican, and Kashif Ali being run out without facing a ball on his debut.

The West Indies won the toss and chose to bat on a turning pitch, but their top order collapsed within the first hour. The Caribbean side found themselves in deep trouble in the 12th over when Noman Ali achieved a remarkable feat. Noman, 38, became the first Pakistani spinner to take a test hat-trick, dismissing Justin Greaves, Tevin Imlach, and Kevin Sinclair. This left the West Indies reeling at 38-7, and a record low score seemed imminent.
Noman's hat-trick was a significant turning point in the match, and he went on to finish with impressive figures of 6-41. The West Indies tail-enders, however, refused to give up. Gudakesh Motie notched his maiden test half-century with a score of 55, while Kemar Roach (25) and Jomel Warrican (36 not out) helped lift the West Indies to a total of 163. Noman's spin partner, Sajid, chipped in with two wickets, and Kashif picked up one wicket on his test debut.
