Van Gerwen Eager for Littler Rematch at Dutch Darts Masters
Michael van Gerwen is eager to face Luke Littler again after their World Championship final, with a rematch possible at the Dutch Darts Masters.
Michael van Gerwen was hoping to face Luke Littler in the next round of the Dutch Darts Masters, seeking a rematch of their World Championship final. Van Gerwen had just secured a convincing 6-1 win over Dirk van Duijvenbode and was waiting to see who would emerge victorious from the final match of the day between Littler and Dimitri Van den Bergh. “Of course. That's the best match, let's be honest,” Van Gerwen said during a post-game press conference. “I think it's good for the tournament as well.”

Van Gerwen's desire for a rematch with Littler was not driven by a desire for revenge, but rather a wish to face a tough opponent again. “Everyone who knows me knows I handle those things very well,” he said. “It happened. It's a shame, but you can't compare the World Championship with other tournaments.” Van Gerwen acknowledged that he and Littler have a closely contested head-to-head record, with Littler winning seven of their 13 meetings and Van Gerwen winning six.
Van Gerwen is not concerned about balancing his head-to-head record with Littler. “I'm not interested in that,” he said. “We're gonna meet each other again another seven or eight times this year. I don't think people should care that much about it.” With Littler ultimately emerging victorious over Van den Bergh, Van Gerwen's wish for a rematch was granted.
