Ligue 1: Reims Hold PSG to Frustrating Draw in Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain's nine-match winning run came to an end as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Reims in Ligue 1.

Paris Saint-Germain's nine-match winning run across all competitions came to an end as they were held to a 1-1 Ligue 1 draw by Stade de Reims. PSG were brimming with confidence after their midweek comeback against Manchester City, but Reims' shot-stopper Yehvann Diouf was up to the task, making several crucial saves in the first half.

Diouf first parried away Ousmane Dembélé's driven effort from the edge of the box, and then spared Cédric Kipré's blushes after his defensive error, denying Gonçalo Ramos from close range. Diouf also thwarted Ramos again moments later with an impressive save, pushing the forward's shot onto the post following Désiré Doué's defence-splitting pass. Meanwhile, Reims' chances were limited, but Gianluigi Donnarumma was twice called into action to deny the lively Keito Nakamura.

Reims' resistance was eventually broken just two minutes into the second half, when PSG debutant Khvicha Kvaratskhelia made a darting run forward and teed up Dembélé. Dembélé's strike took a significant deflection off Kipré before looping over Diouf for his fifth goal in all competitions since the start of 2025.

PSG's joy was short-lived, as Reims equalized just nine minutes later through Keito Nakamura. The Japanese international finished off a superb team move involving his compatriot Junya Itō and Marshall Munetsi, calmly slotting the ball past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Reims' manager Luka Elsner's side was content to hold on for a point after equalizing, and they remained resolute in their defensive structure. PSG, meanwhile, took a patient approach in search of a potentially decisive second goal. Although the Parisians dominated possession in the latter stages, Yehvann Diouf in the Reims goal remained largely untroubled.

The atmosphere inside the Parc des Princes grew increasingly tense as the match drew to a close, but PSG was unable to find a way past Diouf again. As a result, their run of four consecutive home wins in league and cup competitions came to an end. The draw leaves PSG vulnerable to having their lead at the top of the table cut to seven points on Sunday should Marseille win away at Nice. Reims, meanwhile, moves up to 12th place with this hard-fought point.
