Kevin Diks Joins Borussia Mönchengladbach on Three-Year Deal

Kevin Diks, a 28-year-old Dutch defender, has signed a three-year contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach, leaving FC Copenhagen after making 158 appearances and scoring 20 goals.

Borussia Mönchengladbach has secured the services of experienced Dutch defender Kevin Diks, who will join the team after the summer break. The news was confirmed by FC Copenhagen on their website, with Diks signing a three-year contract with Mönchengladbach. The 28-year-old defender expressed his excitement about the move, saying, “Borussia Mönchengladbach has given me an opportunity I cannot refuse. Both in relation to the sporting challenges and the financial framework. I am at an age where both elements are decisive for my future, and therefore I am glad that the contract is now signed and sealed.”

According to FC Copenhagen's sports director, Sune Smith-Nielsen, it was clear that Diks would not be extending his stay with the Danish club. Smith-Nielsen revealed that there were several bids for Diks during the summer transfer window, but the club chose to keep him due to his importance to the team. “In the summer transfer window, there were several bids for Kevin, but we chose to keep Kevin because he is of decisive importance to our team and our way of playing,” Smith-Nielsen explained. He also praised the open dialogue between the club and Diks, saying, “We have always had a really good dialogue about things with Kevin and his background. We have known that Kevin wanted to leave us in the summer after the contract expired.”

Diks joined FC Copenhagen in 2021, following a successful stint with AGF, where he played on loan from Fiorentina. During his time with FC Copenhagen, Diks made 158 appearances, scoring 20 goals, including several penalties, as he was recently chosen as the team's primary penalty taker.
