The Texas Rangers have acquired left-handed pitcher Adam Macko from the Toronto Blue Jays. In the deal, Texas sent infielder Josh Smith and pitching prospect Josh Stephan to Toronto.
Macko, 25, owns a 4.91 ERA in 22 major-league appearances this year. He’s also posted a 4.09 ERA in 19 games at Triple-A. Drafted in the 7th round in 2019, the southpaw made history as the first Slovakian-born player in MLB.
Macko was first taken by the Seattle Mariners. He worked his way up to High-A in their system before being dealt to Toronto in 2022 as part of the trade that sent Teoscar Hernández to Seattle.

He spent all of 2023 in High-A, then pitched most of 2024 in Double-A. Macko got a brief cup of coffee in Triple-A that year, before making that level his primary home in 2025.
Across every minor- and major-league stop, Macko carries a career 4.55 ERA.
Smith, 28, is hitting .213/.299/.272 on the year with 1 HR and 8 RBI. Stephan, 24, has logged a 5.44 ERA over 101 innings in Triple-A this season.
