Edin Dzeko Signs One-Year Contract Extension With Schalke

Schalke have extended veteran striker Edin Dzeko’s stay for another year after the Bosnian helped the club earn promotion back to the Bundesliga last season, the club announced on Monday.
The 40-year-old, who led Bosnia and Herzegovina as captain at the recent World Cup, arrived at Schalke on a free transfer in January.
Dzeko netted six times in 11 appearances in Bundesliga 2, playing a key role in Schalke’s return to the top flight after three seasons in the second division.
"L“Winning promotion to the Bundesliga ranks among the highlights of my career. It was unbelievable,” Dzeko said in a statement.
“Football has made me happy and driven me throughout my life. I am still hungry, and I want to help our team in the Bundesliga too.”

Dzeko could feature in the Bundesliga for the first time since his 2011 move from Wolfsburg to Manchester City when Schalke open their season away at Augsburg on August 30th.
He has also previously played for Roma, Inter Milan and Fenerbahce.
