The Philadelphia Eagles have given a positive update on running back Ja’Quinden Jackson after he went down on the opening kickoff of their preseason game.

 

Jackson was knocked unconscious while making a hard tackle on the opening kickoff of the Eagles’ preseason matchup with the New England Patriots on Saturday night. The stadium fell silent as players from both teams rushed to his side.  

An ambulance and backboard were called for immediately after Jackson was left unconscious on the field. Medical staff from both the Eagles and Patriots rushed to help him.

Jackson was placed on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance while players from both teams knelt on the sideline.

Play resumed shortly after Jackson was taken off, with the Gillette Stadium crowd giving him a standing ovation. The Eagles later said Jackson “has strength and movement in all extremities” and was being transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

It was only Jackson’s second game with Philadelphia. He signed with the Eagles on August 10 after being waived by Jacksonville in May.
