Dortmund Sign 18-Year-Old Greece International Karetsas From Genk

Borussia Dortmund announced on Monday that they have signed Greek forward Konstantinos Karetsas from Belgian club Genk on a five-year contract. The deal is reportedly worth €30 million ($34 million) plus add-ons.

The 18-year-old has already scored 3 goals in 10 caps for Greece. Last season in the Belgian Pro League he also provided 11 assists.

Dortmund had been targeting more creativity in attack following the free-transfer exit of long-time midfielder Julian Brandt.

“Borussia Dortmund is a special club and I am incredibly proud to now be able to wear the black and yellow jersey,” Karetsas said in a statement.

Sporting director Ole Book said: “(Karetsas) will enrich our team with his creativity and intelligence. He is technically very skilled and possesses the ability to find quick solutions in tight spaces, especially in the final third.”

The former European champions have also been linked with Cologne teenager and Germany forward Said El Mala. Dortmund are continuing to strengthen their squad this summer after finishing runners-up to Bayern Munich last season.
