Defending champion Victoria Mboko has pulled out of the Canadian Open with a knee injury.
The world No.10 confirmed on Tuesday that she will not defend her women’s singles title.
The 19-year-old Canadian hasn’t played competitively since injuring herself against Karolina Pliskova at the Queen’s Club Championships in June after a bad slip.
Following scans on her left knee, Mboko withdrew from her doubles quarter-final with 23-time Grand Slam winner Serena Williams. She revealed she had damaged her medial collateral ligament.
The knee problem also ruled Mboko out of the rest of the grass-court season, which included Wimbledon.

Speaking on Tuesday, Mboko said the Toronto event, a key US Open warm-up, “means everything to her.”
“Not being able to play at home this summer in front of the people I love and with the support of the Toronto crowd is deeply disappointing as it has been something I’ve been looking so much forward to,” she said.
The tournament in Toronto runs from August 2nd through August 13th.
