Several players in the Norway squad are dealing with flu-like symptoms before Saturday’s clash with England.

A number of Norway’s players are battling flu-like symptoms in the build-up to Saturday’s World Cup quarter-final against England.

The Norwegian squad has been struck by a flu bug, with multiple players unwell ahead of their World Cup quarter-final on Saturday.

Manager Stale Solbakken confirmed the illness in the Norway camp, but said he’s optimistic things are getting better ahead of the big match in Miami.

According to Norwegian outlet Dagbladet, striker Jorgen Strand Larsen - who missed the opener - and defender Marcus Holmgren Pedersen - who sat out the Round of 16 win over Brazil - were among those hit by the bug.

  

Solbakken, though, doesn’t seem worried about the general fitness of his squad.

“We've had a couple of players who haven't been feeling well, but things are improving,” Solbakken says to Dagbladet. He adds that it is nothing serious, but involves “a bit of a cough and a touch of hoarseness going around.”

“There's air conditioning, planes, dressing rooms, and all that. We're a group of over 50 people, so it would be strange if there wasn't a bit of illness.”

Norway are riding a wave of World Cup fever. Most pundits didn’t see this coming, but they’ve gone further than expected and stunned Brazil to reach the quarter-finals in one of the tournament’s biggest upsets.

Erling Haaland scored both goals in the 2-1 win over Brazil to take his World Cup tally to seven. The victory also sent Norway into the last eight of the World Cup for the first time ever.
