Rooney: Salah Shouldn’t Get a Send-Off in Final Liverpool Game
Salah’s Liverpool career ends this weekend, but Rooney believes the forward’s criticism of Slot means he doesn’t deserve a farewell appearance vs Brentford.

Wayne Rooney has hit out at Mohamed Salah following the Liverpool forward’s public criticism of manager Arne Slot.
Salah called for Liverpool to go back to being a “heavy metal attacking team that opponents fear” after their 4-2 loss to Aston Villa. The defeat dealt a blow to their chances of making the Champions League.
The Egyptian is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season. He finishes his Liverpool career with 257 goals and six major trophies.
Rooney responded strongly to Salah’s remarks. He argued the winger should not be given a farewell appearance in Liverpool’s final game of the season against Brentford this Sunday.
“I find it sad at the end of what he's done and what he's achieved at Liverpool. It's not the point for him to come out and aim another dig at Slot.
“He wants to play heavy metal football, so he's basically saying he wants Jurgen Klopp football. Now I don't think Mo Salah can cope with that type of football anymore. I think his legs have gone to play at that high tempo and high intensity.
“If I were Arne Slot, I'd have him nowhere near the stadium in the last game.
“I had it with Alex Ferguson. I had a disagreement and fall-out, and at Alex Ferguson's last game at Old Trafford, he left me out of the squad for that reason,” he said.
I have witnessed this club go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. It took hard work and I always did everything I could to help the club get there. Nothing makes me prouder than that.

He added: “He's almost just dropped the grenade and said he doesn't trust and believe in Arne Slot and almost thrown his teammates (under) who are going to be there next season and let them have to deal with that as well and put them into a position.”
Liverpool end a season without silverware at Anfield this Sunday, and it looks set to be a quiet farewell for the club legend. There’s even a chance he won’t get on the pitch to say goodbye.
