Derby Abandonment Leaves Goteborg Still Winless in Allsvenskan

IFK Goteborg derby called off following fan fire incident

A 3-2 win at Djurgarden keeps Sirius unbeaten and three points clear at the top, while the hosts miss their chance to climb into the top three.

Sirius came from behind twice to beat Djurgarden 3-2 in Stockholm, extending their unbeaten start and opening a five-point gap at the top of Allsvenskan...

The Gothenburg derby between Orgryte and IFK Goteborg was abandoned after a fire started in the away section where IFK supporters were seated.

In the Allsvenskan, Sirius have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the table after beating Djurgarden away from home.

Derby ends early at Gamla Ullevi

The first top-flight meeting between Orgryte and Goteborg at Gamla Ullevi since 2009 did not make it to half-time. The game was stopped shortly before the break and later abandoned.

Promoted Orgryte had only one win since returning to the top flight, which is still one more than bottom-placed IFK. The match reached a new low for IFK after some away supporters set fire to Orgryte scarves and banners in their section.

Game called off with Goteborg 2-1 up

Referee Glenn Nyberg sent the players off in the 40th minute. Over an hour later, officials decided to abandon the match, with Goteborg leading 2-1 at the time.

The match started with a 10-minute silent protest from the fans. They were demonstrating against what they see as attempts by the authorities to kill the atmosphere at Swedish games.

Once the noise returned midway through the first half, Blavitt took the lead. Sebastian Clemmensen passed the ball inside to August Erlingmark, who slotted it into the bottom corner to finish off a flowing move. Seven minutes later, Clemmensen set up the second with a curling cross that Benjamin Brantlind turned home.

In the 37th minute, the home side pulled a goal back through a well-executed counter-attack. William Hofvander struck the ball into the top corner, and that goal seemed to spark the trouble that broke out shortly after.

The abandonment means Goteborg remain without a win on three points, while OIS sit two points and two places above them. It has not yet been decided whether the match will be replayed or resumed at a later date.

Sirius restore five-point lead in Stockholm

There was plenty of drama in Stockholm as well, but this time it was all on the pitch. Sirius kept up their strong season with a win over Djurgarden, restoring their five-point advantage at the top. The result also ended the hosts’ two-match winning run.

Djurgarden strike first through Anderson header

The visitors’ unbeaten start looked in danger after 13 minutes. Bo Hegland’s outswinging corner found Mikael Anderson, who powered a header past the keeper to put Djurgarden ahead.

Two goals in five minutes before half-time turned the game around for Sirius. Melker Heier threaded a ball through for Marcus Lindberg to poke past the goalkeeper, and then Isak Bjerkebo broke down the left and squared for Robbie Ure to tap in from close range.

The home side came out stronger after the break and equalised six minutes in. Hegland knocked a ball to the far post back across goal, and Tobias Anker turned it into his own net while under pressure from Kristian Lien.

The setback did not faze the Uppsala side. Six minutes later Ure turned provider, finding Neo Jonsson unmarked in the area. Jonsson powered home the winner from eight yards out.

It is three wins in a row for Sirius since their only draw of the season. Djurgarden remain fifth and missed the chance to move up to third.
